The intensive and mutually fruitful collaboration between Tim Mälzer and KAI has now lasted almost 15 years. Together, we are proud of the open and trusting relationship on an equal footing that the collaboration has allowed to mature over time. Tim's personality and the KAI chef's knife series associated with him also play an important role in the communication of the brand. In 2024, we are pleased to announce that we have developed new campaign motifs together that emphasise this relationship. The elements of fire, water, air and earth serve as a natural leitmotif for four chapters under which we will successively address the Tim Mälzer chef's knife lines and the topic of sustainability.
Chapter One begins with the claim "INSPIRED BY WATER" and stands for the particularly elegant SHUN MINAMO series. The name of the series comes from the very fine damascus grain, which is reminiscent of a water surface (Japanese Minamo) in the rain. Tim, who designed the blade shape himself, presents his knife as a self-confident style icon.
Tim got the idea for the knife shape from a visit to a museum in Japan. An ancient Japanese fishing knife provided him with the stylistic inspiration for his design with the peculiar Minamo blade shape. Tim's blade shape is used in both the Minamo and the Kamagata series and is recognised by KAI as a hybrid chef's knife blade. In simple terms, the aesthetic hybrid blade shape can also be described as a combination of a European chef's knife and a Japanese Santoku.
Never the same, always different: the fantastic experience of the world's most important consumer goods fair. The dynamic interplay of product and design worlds, highlights and events creates an overview of the global market at Ambiente. As an exhibitor, we were of course there again this year. From 3 to 5 November 2023, the "Ad Alliance Get Away" took place at the Spa & Restort Hotel Bachmair Weissach am Tegernsee. In addition to a sporty mountain bike tour, a cosy carriage ride or an exciting fashion talk with GALA Fashion Director Marcus Luft, the guests were also surprised with culinary delights. In October, we once again visited our parent company in Japan. Together with Tim Mälzer and other guests, we not only visited our headquarters in Tokyo and various KAI production facilities in Seki, but also once again embarked on a cultural and culinary journey through exciting spots. Philipp Rathmer, our favourite photographer, was also on board again and accompanied us and Tim on the trip. You can find selected impressions here:
The new warehouse at our European headquarters in Solingen was officially opened. We celebrated this new milestone in a relaxed atmosphere with sake from a traditionally tapped barrel for a happy future and culinary highlights. And because it's better to celebrate together, we did so with many invited guests - including our special guests, the managing directors Koji Endo and Hiroaki Endo from our parent company in Japan as well as our friends Tim Mälzer, Xiao Wang, Chakal and Stefan Wiertz, who supported us on this day with their culinary skills - you can find impressions here:
It's that time of year again - the SPA AWARDS will be presented in Kitzbühel this year. Stars, beauty experts and many others celebrate beauty for a whole weekend. Exhibitors and trade visitors can look forward to a first-class world's leading trade fair for consumer goods from 3 to 7 February 2023. The industry is unanimous: Ambiente is the international platform where you can meet customers from all over the world. Of course, we from KAI were also represented at the world-famous trade fair and enjoyed meeting international and national partners and customers at our stand. After the long enforced break due to Covid, we celebrated the finer things in life together with our partner brands Acqua di Parma and Gant.
