The dual-core blade of the Shun Nagare series is produced by KAI using an innovative forging process. Two types of steel with different properties are combined to form a 72-layer Damascus blade. The combination of a flexible, resistant VG 2 steel and a particularly hard VG 10 steel results in a hardness of 61 (±1) HRC. As a result, the bread knife blade with KAI serrated edge has a particularly long-lasting edge retention and excellent sharpness.
The ergonomically shaped handle sits comfortably in the hand thanks to its soft, rounded lines. The forged tang in the handle gives the knife massive stability and balances the knife perfectly as a counterweight to the blade. The riveted handle scales made of grey-black mottled pakkawood, an impregnated and particularly resistant wood veneer, lend the knife warmth and value.
